I added a course to the tower and custom cut a cover for the core opening. It’s better but not perfect as I calculate the next step. I’m leery to seal the top as I’d like to have access for cleaning, potential repairs etc.
The bench is smooth and roughly uniform, level-ish. I can start tiling after the new material sets up. It’s going to be very custom and shaping of tile will take time, but is key to the process of bringing the old together with the new.
I’m looking forward to having the bench be more welcoming, comfortable, and finished (which means cleaner as it will be sealed and solid).
