So I made time.
During the long way around grocery run one fender LED loosened itself, completely. Last year’s ride started the process, I had a little mishap on Schodic Neck. MINCX was stabled after that ride, I’m reminded of the mishap’s ripples.
The light on the front of the fender is my Unicorn Horn. I attempted putting it in a more logical place years ago, but it didn’t fit with shock compression. Lesson…. I moved it forward so it wouldn’t hit the beak, and looks, well, forward.
The fender LEDs are simple Jeeper lights, bright but don’t cast distance. Perfect really for lighting the way of the front tire as it turns. Motorcycling at night can be tricky because the lights shoot straight, they are affixed to the body of the motorcycle. When the front turns, different amounts of parts turn with it depending on the motorcycle, usually very few if any. It makes it hard to see to the side, slow sharp corners can feel blind.
I want light shining on the path of the front tire, not just the direction the motorcycle is going. The bright short cast is also for visibility. The LEDs that flank the headlight cast, like seriously into the distance. They augment the headlight and are especially helpful at speed, but it’s a trade off.
It’s the spot versus flood light. I want both, and just took the time to make it so!
