Some months ago I purchased some snazzy “stick packs” of a trendy diet company’s lemonade. The “lemonade” has a variety of flavors (all pretty yummy), sugar free (stevia pulling the load, a wee too far), supposed to be fulla healthy good stuff.
The company, 310, also makes shake powders, meal substitutes, the like. I didn’t purchase any of that stuff, liked the stick packs but never got into a routine. Each flavor was brilliantly colored, and yummy, but never really caught on.
The goal was to encourage the consumption of water whilst jazzing it up. The goal got a bump after listening to a Huberman lecture (yes, “podcast” but also via Spotify, YouTube etc) about the effects of alcohol on the brain. My younger sister had been introduced to it, recommended it to me. We both agreed that, in sum, it was rather shocking.
One thing he stressed was (OBVI) consume water while consuming alcohol. He also pointed out the science behind how critical electrolytes are before/during/after alcohol use.
Initially I ramped up my stick pack intake, and being part way through the New Year celebration, stalled the cessation of eliminating alcohol. Once the celebration was over, the overdue break arrived.
It had been scheduled for post work fall, just clean out from a busy summer of hard work, steady (but hardly exorbitant) partying. Instead I leaned into some demanding and rigorous projects, namely the shome and stove builds.
I no longer consume energy drinks, and found myself using beer instead. Highly preferred in many regards, so I got the jobs done and having some delicious fun all the while.
Again, looking to drink more fluids, healthy ones, it felt like something was missing (besides missing beer of course). I was recently doing some related research and came across the LMNT crew, it resonated, I was intrigued, bought some sticks, LOVE IT!!!
Super clean, streamlined, no colors, fillers, sugar etc. Seriously delicious and, well, hella salty, that’s their thing. Don’t take it from me.
I can hardly wait to drink a stick in 32oz of water first thing in the morning. I haven’t had a single muscle cramp since. I’ve craved salt for decades, I think I get it now!!!
Should you choose to experiment, contact me before purchase, I earned some mutually beneficial perks!
Salt on, game on
