A couple few months ago

Whilst out delivering, I buzzed past a “Free” pile and singled this gem out immediately. After the delivery (in Brunswick in a tight neighborhood) on my way out I snatched it up, looked like it was in decent shape.

See, I have the same stove that my family used road tripping in Europe 50 years ago! It’s a great stove, not for backpacking mind you, but cooks wonderfully.

Today I finally popped the hood, lifted the grate and, lo and behold, the tank even had fuel (white gas) in it, and pressure. I fired the thing up and it’s FULLY OPERATIONAL. I figured I’d grab it as a parts stove, but its as good (if not better?) than the version that cooked for my family out of the back of our dear old navy blue Volvo.

Last trip Deedles was upta camp with me I schooled him on Primus stove cooking, intro class. Killer little single burner, prolly hotter than this old Coleman, but a backpacking stove. This car camper has two burners and windscreens, the next lesson!

I’ve cleaned it up and done some rustproofing. Yes, the lanolin will burn off (smoked sheep for apps anyone?) but will do wonders putting the ravages of time on hold…
