Pre-Deedles

I was living in a community building aptly named The Warren

I had a lovely coworker that would often preface statements with “My Dad is weird” (to which I never quipped “Lucky you!”/“I could’ve used some of that…”) but mentioned once that there is a reality that eating off of metal utensils is just a flat out no-no. Macrobiotics isn’t really on the radar these days, but it’s serious business!!!

I didn’t think, simply replied “What else is there?!” Ah ignorance…. Chopsticks quickly came up and I nodded, didn’t have any in the kitchen but was handy with them. I felt kinda stupid though, impulsive at least. The moment never left me.

I miss people like Laura in my life, and folks like her Dad. We were never friends but had a solid mutual respect and pleasant rapport.

The “Asian soup spoon” made of porcelain is a reminder of living in a rabbit hole, amongst others, living breathing growing sharing evolving, and of course, moving on

Behold an example in one of a pair of bowls that Deedles gifted us, the house. Miso with tahini and chili crunch oil, rice-n-veggies and chunks of leftover rotisserie chicken. Mayhaps I’ll tell Deedles the story (he’ll see the picture but prolly won’t read the text)…
