This has nothing to do with today

Except maybe for the fact that I had a gently full day off and I’m gearing up for a full shift tomorrow (and Monday).

Strawberries are a really big deal at the Machias Hannaford. They might be elsewhere, I cannot say. It’s been about every other day for a couple weeks where we get zero in our order. We don’t control what parts of the daily order come or not.

When I do “cut fruit,” strawberries are the keystone. They go into 3/4s of the precut and instore produced packs, cups and salads. Not to mention how many we sell daily. We pretty much run out daily (which is good so they don’t go bad).

I don’t love the cut fruit job/station. It’s 42 degrees, bleakly lit with fluorescent lights, and the henious soundtrack of the store plays from a speaker barely above my head. There is a tablet used for inventory and planning, it’s a nuisance but part of the job, greater inventory system.

I’ll show you some of the stuff I bust out tomorrow, I’m going to bed and riding to work in sub 50* temps!!! It’s likely going to be a quiet day in the store but we’ll have the after church crowd pass through. They are a pleasant bunch.
