While the P~pad is past the winter phase of near constant wood heated fire mode, the need to chase the chill exists.
Sporadic fires were becoming a bit of an issue with backdraft, smoky starts. More fire science!
It occurred to me that turning off the circulation pump that sends heat to the floor, would cool the bench less. A warm bench means a warm flu, that is literally below the fire, fire exhaust tends to not like going down…
I’m preparing to build a riser to help with exhaust flow, but it’s a major project and will take the stove offline for days, perhaps many. The riser will be part of the bench, so it’s more than just an isolated project, quick fix.
It will be a momentous step for the hearing system, and potentially finalize the design and function of the system.
In the interim I manually turn on the circulation pump once the fire is going, then turn it off as it wanes. It’s been a gray and not warm April, so scrounging around, cleaning and cutting up scraps of this and that for BTUs
