I was noticing a bit of fluctuation in the wind, and mighty contrast between sunny moments and dark bottomed clouds. I remembered a coworker saying “It smelled like snow today…” last week

I opened the windows as I heard occasional thunder rumbling afar, then it hit. The first wave pictured here and below was a few minutes of bluster and bang, ice balls bouncing and clacking around, colorful cyclones swirling full of leaves, water and ice.

The second wave was a brief pounding, and made me grateful I don’t live in Florida! It doesn’t count as a frost or a first snow, but the temp dove and never bounced back. There are still leaves on trees, but less, as the green curtain changes hues and starts coming down, letting through that wan autumn light
