Much of my awe

In the majesty of Nature, lies in what we don’t, can’t, are unable to see.

That which our flesh eyes reveal to us may indeed be majestic, highly subjective, but that’s literally just the surface.

Decades ago a famous coffee table book “Gnome” garnered much of my attention, widened my eyes and perspective. The illustrations were complex and rich, large and glossy. One full page spread led to another, one implied “nature from a human’s perception” and the following illustration was the same but with a multitude of layers and visual aides, implying what the same world looked like to a gnome. It was of course all fictitious, perhaps, but helped me see what I wasn’t.

This beautiful moth reminds me of that book, experience. The feathery antennas, the fuzz behind the head, the massive surface area of the delicate wings. All that I see, appreciate, fills me with wonder and makes me wonder more.

There is so much I don’t see, in this moth, in the intricate web of life, our planet and universe. May more be revealed to me as my eyes widen, mind opens!

I bow to you, my Majesty
