Down through the layers

The CFB on the left was the plenum top. Down past the end cap, rust hole and all, is where the flu gasses are heading.

Plenum out of the way, layers to go

Plug up the old, connect the new. (It’s actually the other way around but I’ll skip the chronology) The copper tubing visible above the upper hole is part of the radiant floor heat transfer system.

Found the silver part in my collection, it was practically perfect.

Fine tuned the core exit flow by sealing between it and the cooktop. A sculpted piece of stove pipe and some stove mortar, tight. I refilled the cavity with some mass and mostly vermiculite and lit a fire.

The win was zero smell from the stove. The loose was the question of where the smoke was being cooled, stalled…
