The regular steel that the vertical high temperature steel was tack welded to is not holding up.
Putting some firebrick over the gaps for now. (The one in the photo is staged for placement, absorbing some heat so a glove hand is safer in there). I’m conjuring plans for a firebrick firebox inside a ceramic fiber board core. A hybrid.
The CFB is great stuff. it’s just not hearty enough to withstand P~Pad use. Same truth for regular steel…
