With research, preparation and proper tools, off with the old!

A little cleanup required. The bike belies its age, as it sat a fair bit in its infancy. I’d say it’s hitting stride as it settles into youth, with additional upgrades and use. (Last summer saw three thousand miles jump on the odometer. Hardly a lot, but pretty good for a Maine summer with purposefully light use based on need.)
New pipe scheduled for Monday arrival, narrowing in on the muffler (decision. Thankfully I have all sorts of aftermarket options, as it’s a popular bike world wide. That is to say not as popular in America, home of the Harley and “bigger is better, huge is normal“. The variables for a muffler/silencer include weight [nothing weighs as much as stock!] styling [not my priority] sound [I’m astounded by the variety] and volume. Price is a largely a byproduct of said variables, but expensive isn’t better. I’m courting two small UK companies [down to one, and zeroing in on model] that come in at half to a third of the price of expensive systems. It’s taken a fair bit of research to uncover the new truth for MINCX! Since I’m still in the parentheses, replacing the header was due

It’s similar to the situation with the stove flu. It was working. Flow was restricted, but flowing adequately. If I were more patient and scientific about it, I’d replace one part at a time and note the differences. I’m not, and can’t be with snow covered roads. MINCX will have a bit of a rebirth this spring. I’m ready, but neither bike nor season are…)
