Now I can say it…

Happy New Year All! (Yesterday was technically December 32nd as I listened to the final of four Phish concerts a day later instead of watching live)

Not much to show for it, but during that I cleaned up the surface (mostly the old propane side) and attempted to seal the wood burning side. It sorta worked, sorta not. Good experiment.

The sorta didn’t work part led to a second round of experiments (in between firing of course). Whilst cleaning the propane side, I opened up the plenum and identified some of the drafts/leakage. The stove was burning dirty, really dirty until it was really hot. Too much air was intercepting the signal, cooling the gases down, gross smelling and inefficient.

Sorry no pics, just too dirty to get the phone out…BUT, the stove has reached a new level of efficiency, burning hotter, drawing better, progress indeed. In fact, the beans I cooked had to move up to a trivet to simmer. Beams for lunch in the new year.

Some good important changes coming along, poopshack first…
