To support local…. After back and forth for a month, it was finally brought to light that the metal shop I was attempting to do business with (support) was unable to get the 1.5×2.5” steel. Woulda been nice had that been realized a month ago during my first/earlier visit/s…
Not surprisingly, I was able to find it online (and NOT Amazon) and these folks even ship on Saturday! Huzzah, the process is afoot.
I’ll save $80 on fabrication, I saw a video about the stove I’m building (from Japan no less) that had an excellent work-around for welding, tap and dye (sp?) a 90* bracket. Easy peasy!!!
The steel will likely be waiting for me when I return Thursday! I’m excited to embark on the stove (re)build, answering all those lingering questions that I’ve been pondering for months!! (There is so much I can’t know/do until I get the original J-tube out of the way, rendering it useless and making way for something else)
Baby steps add up, I’ll have to procure the bracket, tap and die for the high heat fasteners, and create a hole in the steel tube, but I’m inching closer to the build, upgrade procedure.
