We splurged and had local rib eye with veggies on the grill. The rice cooker took care of the pilaf, the griddle on the grill was a little too small for the veggie love but it was a good hoedown for this iteration of the summer kitchen.
Deedles finished his homework and finals prep, got the remainder of the birch split after a safety awareness chat ( crocs and shorts aren’t typical wood splitting attire) that went something like “I’m NOT taking you to the hospital today, we ARE eating grilled steak here!”
We had a glorious hour or more of rain to rinse and soften things. We listened to it from different places, yet still enjoyed each other’s company. We then had an excellent chat, as I explored and shared my feelings about not ready to leave the loop, got into the meaning of “about face”, complete with a demonstration and Deedles was initially perplexed by my ability to swish around 180* on a dime, seemingly not moving…
Gonna be hot today so shades are down, and I’ll attempt fried eggs on the grill (they might stick as it isn’t typically seasoned cast iron, burning off regularly, courtesy of burger smashing…), with leftover steak, our favorite breakfast, replete with grilled toast (it’s THE BEST)
