Initially when I put in the rocketstove I put in a double layer of flashing, spaced to protect the cutting board. It never got close to burning so I removed it.
I have though, lately, noticed it does heat up and forces the wood treatment up and out pores away from the barrel. I’ve installed a single spaced layer to address that.
