Far more complicated

Than I would like it to be, feel.

I’m coming up in two weekends so don’t have to decide completely, but the “shutting down” mindset, process is new, unfortunate, and has all too many layers.

I could drain the water system (less than an hour of time) and walk away. I’ll be removing gutters to facilitate snow shedding, cleaning and organizing the kitchen (things get flipped, any foodstuffs not in glass or metal are stored elsewhere or composted, it’s a mouse thing) and a myriad of other things, inside and out.

It all exacerbates that I don’t like, want to leave. While I’ve worked on that process for years, the “shut down” has a heavier feel, more unpleasant, stronger than “let’s tidy up so when we pop back up it’ll be nice.”

I know I could merely do the bare minimum, and just pick up where I left off, but it’s a balance of looking ahead, being present, and investing time&energy in the process of ownership, stewardship, feeling comfortable and proud about my home. Despite not living here….

This much I know, I’ll be driving home in the dark!!
