I got busy with the pine, ripping down the lumber into a variety of strips for use as stringers. The gunwales are laminated so require three pieces per side. Two sets of lower chines at on measurement, then another for the upper chines. The inwales are yet another measurement. I ripped the keel too, but have soak and bend it before I can trim it (narrower in the bow and notched to fit the stem). They have been grouped and await transportation.
I’ve paid for my kit and while it’s being shipped I’ll soak the keel (and wait with bated breath for the jigsaw I’ve ordered to arrive!) and create the level strongback (essentially the removable backbone/work bench the frame is built on)
I also have some odds and ends to create, cedar spacers for the tiller and between the gunwale and inwale. The oppressive heat isn’t conducive to productivity. I got some weedwacking done earlier, then put in my spring bulb order. In the meantime, despite the heat, it’s lovely in the woods!
