The most amazing discovey!! Right in Gardner Maine there is a guy who designs, sells plans AND kits for small SOF (Skin On Frame) boats. This is an absolute eureka!!!
I can build one of these puppies easy-peasy!! Might start with one and go from there. The kits are cheaper than buying a used boat, and because of the “skin” are very light (yet tough, as I’ve learned!)!
Right now I’m pondering the dory design versus the Whitehall row boat. What an amazing discovery! Maine person, company, no need to ship a kit, and a variety of designs. (Can you say “light and affordable paddle board”?! Or “Cedar will build the second one”?!)
I do have to come up with a little shelter at my rent for construction. One might not happen this summer, but had I discovered this a month or two ago, I’d be piloting one!!
