That was close!!

I got on the road as early as I could, and with trepidation abound, went for it. CT issued a no tractor-trailer bulletin starting at 9p, I was due in Willington around 10p, 10 miles across the border. Would they enforce it? There was ZER0 question I would hit snow

I got a call from 61 dispatch just as I was transitioning from 290W to 90W. I was sent home, and should’ve taken a picture. It’s a crazy ramp transition, slow tight bumpy, typical Massachusetts highway mayhem. I was able to crank it over onto a shoulder (fortunately there was one) and the snow started pelting, hard and fast.

Through my windshield I could see two huge green signs, one over each lane. One goes west, the one I was about to take. The other, east, and after an update from my bawesome, redirected my empty trailers to NOMA, a facility outside Worcester, dropped my double bellies and dolly, hooked up an empty 53’, dispatched and steamed East and north.

It was getting ugly fast, and had to slow down a bit, but it continued to lighten up and before I knew it, I had outrun the system and beat rubber feet to drop the 53 in Saco (Portland station) and then hotfoot it bobtail (with nothing behind me) to set up trailers for the driver tomorrow.

It’s 3:30am and I’m sipping tea, the bed’s about warm, and it’s going to start snowing momentarily. The Pepsi trucks are rolling out and I feel for them…
