Bigger deal

A couple “open box” deals. CD players are both hard to find, and not cheap. (Supply and demand, know anyone listening to Compact Discs? Nuff said). The receiver is crazy simple.
I pondered spending a grand on an open box deal at a box store. It had a million bells and whistles, essentially top of the line surround sound system for a home theater setup. It was $2.5K new…
The one I purchased is almost twice as powerful as my existing ailing receiver. The one I pondered was 50% greater than m this purchase, but completely over the top regarding bells and whistles. I’m much happier spending a fifth of the other open box price and going plain jane.
No theater here, just jamming tunes.
It’s another indicator of how off the beaten path I am. Most folks have monstrous screens, subscriptions to multiple streaming platforms, WiFi bills and likely don’t have an optical drive (disc player) and maybe a soundbar, woofer. And no stereo.
Each to their own, I’d rather listen to music.
