Of fire science. I’m kind of laughing, screaming wouldn’t help anything.
See the right hand pointing? Exhaust leaves the back of the stove. I got it dialed in this fall and it was pulling nicely. Lately it hasn’t been. I thought perhaps the draft was pulling ash into the bench, easy enough to clean out. I wanted to take a look at the exit pipe though, the stove has developed a tiny wobble and maybe the seal isn’t great.
Maybe?! I pull away the rockwool and the pipe CRUMBLES. Ah, thats it… the steel couldn’t handle the heat from the Waymo was running the stove. The insulated stove was also sending more heat OUT (that was the point) but the weak link revealed…
I folded the rockwool back over and the fire is basically working its way out the bench and chimney, but I won’t add anymore fire. I can’t show you now obvi, but I’ll illustrate the fact once the fire is out.
Horrible timing? Couldn’t really be much worse…. I’m devising a more robust exhaust out of ceramic fiberboard. I’ll be working on that Thursday when I have the day off.
I’m using the last of the heat in the stove to start dinner.
