You knew it wouldn’t be long

Before I posted about shorter days…

We (up here DownEast) are below the 12 hour daylight mark. Takes a little longer for things to warm up, but we’ve managed to evade frost in September.

Maple, birch and ash trees have turned and casting leaves, stubborn beech yet to budge. Riding the autumnal hump with an eye to the beast of winter.

Am I recounting my vacation experience? Am I weighing the list, counting tik marks, regretting the unaccomplished, places I didn’t go and things I didn’t do? Nah. It felt good to be home, gently keep chipping away at the massive block of life, sculpting my reality. The chisel is sharp but the hammer gets smaller.

Grateful for both block and hammer, mindful of the chisel
