This popped up and I immediately responded. I was a little surprised when it did. I was communicating with a guy in Bangor, we had a conversation a couple weeks ago then his plans changed. They changed again, it would be a shared home, two of us.
This popped up, I could barely believe it, it looked legit (if the post asks for an email or phone # it’s bogus, LOTS of those) so shot off a concise email. This morning I had a legit response, with a phone number, no area code. You know when you’re deep in Maine when no area code is included! The email address also included an address, so I could scope it, lay virtual eyes on it
Appears to be a multiple unit building, on the corner of Charles and Ohio. It’s on the same side of the river as work, a little closer than Somerset.
I called and had a brief conversation with a nice man. Month to month rental, no lease. He didn’t really want to wait until Jan 1st when I mentioned I had rent paid through this month. I set up a time to see the place and meet him after work tomorrow. Part of me feels like getting in the car now to see it, drop the deposit, but the snow is only just stopping and I’ll let the roads clear up.
This is a clean apartment at an amazing price in a nice neighborhood, I don’t think I can pass it up, find anything better. I know my current landlord will find the news displeasing, but he’s an understanding man. I haven’t thought of what exactly to say, it would be easier to toss in a white lie about getting a domicile route and moving back to camp but that isn’t honest. Keeping it as simple as “I’m moving out (at the end of the month)” is, well, simple…
