Of group stretching and assorted announcements pertaining to the day, delivery drivers head to their vehicles, backed up to the belt (on both sides).

The belt starts and the flow of packages begins, drivers grab and scan, “van” them, organize if time permits. The process takes an hour or two with variables

There’s plenty of banter. It’s the “people part” of working for FedEx. On route 552 I’m surrounded by some great folk, my immediate neighbor is a motorcyclist and we chat about a variety of things. He’s about my age and phones, like REAL PHONES, came up in conversation.

“There was a long cord in the kitchen, that’s all the privacy you got!” We talked about phone booths, lamenting their absence. I ran across a landline (on a building) and texted a picture (oh the irony!?) to him.

Completed 67 deliveries, but didn’t empty the van. Today will be heavier. Holiday things are afoot!!
