I brought the compressor along due to the flat on the Venza. I set it up in the loft, as a shorter run of (air) hose is better, and not having the compressor on an extension cord.

The fix will suffice, get the house through winter. The ridge vent and shingles predate the roofing job (I was living on Peaks at the time, went to Sue Putnam’s funeral en route to the project, ten something years ago if not more!). Those shingles were a handlmedown or something, now brittle and failing…
Fortunately I had some leftover shingles in the roofing department (thank you poopshack!!) and was even able to return a couple shingles to their respective spots before the wind so rudely sent them flying. The pattern of destruction is obvious, I’ll be sure the next fix accounts for as much!
This has never happened before in my 20 years here, but I’m bracing for it again, and likely worse. (I’d rather live in a dome…)

It’s hardly detectable from the ground. The shingles below the ridge are in decent shape, prolly have another decade in them. (Do I want to be roofing in a decade?!). This spring/summer I’ll remove the ridge shingles and venting, replace them with hearty asphalt shingles, properly weaving things in, “shingled” if you will.
I’ll price metal roofing and options, but the roof beneath (sheeting and a few rafters) aren’t ideal, something I want to cover up indefinitely.
Realistically I have 20 something years left here. I’m exploring winters elsewhere. Riding more/A LOT, so pondering a variety of moves, ideas, scenarios. I’d prefer to invest in something newer, more sound, smaller, more efficient, single floor, a retirement cabin/tiny house scene. Maybe here, maybe not, maybe yes plus elsewhere?
The roof is fixed for now, full win, instead of solving retirement and other future endeavors, it’s time for a burger lunch, replete with a beer. No more ladders today!!!
