Fueled in Franklin

Glad to find more non-ethanol options. The Trading Post is practically on the trail.

I worked my way north, experiencing all sorts of terrain, lots of twists and banked turns (from side by sides, quads etc) often blueberry barrens on one side and forest on the other. Mud in the woods, river stone where soil’s been washed, roots and sand.

Crossed route nine by The Airline SnackBar (which no longer carries non-ethanol) and worked my way west back to Wesley, finding multiple deadends and one instance where GPS believed a road was, but isn’t. I recognized the other side…. Great camping spot, but I’d have to take the long way around to get there, Third Chain Lake

But I’m getting ahead of myself, or maybe I should say, “the next picture means a lot more than it says”

This is just north of route nine, barely past the SnackBar. What it doesn’t say, but I’m crushed to learn later in the day, NO DIRTBIKES ALLOWED north of 9!!! wtf….

En route home I chatted with a BLM employee battling beavers on The Stud Mill Road. He mentioned the no dirt bike thing, I inquired further, shocked and dismayed. It’s a landowner preference, and he said he had no authority to write me up (?!?!)

Puts a serious kink in my plans, absolute cramp in my style, stymies countless plans. Do I play ignorant? Do I explore how much the infraction costs? Do I get a multi wheeled vehicle to use in this area (I’d rather not until I can no longer motorcycle). Do I move to PA where motorcycling is practically rampant? (That’s a little extreme but tempting! Maybe retirement?!)

I dunno, flummoxed…. Blissfully nursing my motorcycle hangover, longest, most diverse and demanding day on btwxd, triumphant even, only to learn I’m breaking the law during the last hour. Let’s talk irony, or not, I’m working to stifle my fury!
