After a smooth ride home under smoky skies (and lots of other bikers out vacationing!) I’m settling into a three day “weekend” at home. One trip down to the grome and back and I’ve got two ticks on me…
I’ll address the multiplying aphids in the grome later, the ticks on the other hand are being addressed. I’m researching, and lo and behold, some of the very things I WANT on my property are part of the problem!
Dandy, just friggin’ dandy! At least it’s going to be a moist summer as the El Niño/La Niña cycle turns, so out comes the weedwacker after deciding to use it as little as possible.
I’m also creating a plan to make a raised wooden walkway from the house to the grome, which doesn’t necessary lower the tick population as much as it makes it harder for them to jump me.
Eradicating tick vectors is part of the tick eradication process. I don’t have a deer problem, but rodents lurk around the property, supplying ticks both food and pathogens. Open season, poisons at the bottom of the list….
