Two things happened on the way home today, are they related?
My hand warmers crapped out about a third of the way through, not ideal but doesn’t halt progress. I thought maybe it was the switch as the same type on M4xw3ll is malfunctioning, but it could be something besides the switch itself. I tried to hotwire the grips in Amherst (my hands were cold, but dry thanks to HippoHands!) by removing the switch and using a fuse to bridge the gap. Nada.
While I was doing so I noticed the front blinkers were flashing slightly. Hazards worked front and rear, same with blinkers, hmmmmm. It’s just a subtle pulse, a gentle rhythmic increase that passes while the front daylight running lights are doing their thing.
Turns out there was a short where the wires meet the warming element, I’ve fixed that with the appropriate tape, the heaters work. The gentle pulse could be water related, but I can ride the bike as is.
Making some calls to see if the stove pipe part I need is in Machias. I hope I don’t have to drive to Bangor to get it…this raw damp needs a fire to combat it!
