Went for it with the hole. The slope of the fan roof might not hang up snow shedding, we’ll see! The solar panel fits right on top, not sure why others run wires and mount panels elsewhere. (This does happen to be mounted dead south, not the coolest air but worked out well for a variety of reasons.) Perhaps because they won’t be removing the panel seasonally as I will. Not sure I have the thermostat switch wired correctly. What matters is that it’s pushing air into the grome, keeping things moving.
