Some wood ash wintered over in this old aluminum pot, moisture was present. The aluminum swole right up, got mooshy and basically fell apart, and a non-brittle way. I haven’t followed up on it, but assuming the lye in the ash may have been the catalyst, culprit.
Note to self, store ash elsewhere…. I’m not bummed about the pot, it was cracked on the bottom. Maybe now I can use it for a planter!
