The ADV rider proclivity to standing is many things, as far as I can infer, increased visibility to oncoming traffic (less an issue off-road obvi) and especially an enhanced visibility of the ever changing and challenging terrain, topography. It’s also good to get off your butt on long days. Certain terrain isn’t just fun seated.
I may still craft my own, for cold versus cool, with greater protection and less need to stand. It gets cold FAST standing in the cold…
