And HULLOOOOO to uplevel

This project plants btwxd FIRMLY in the ADV Zone, takes it from putt-around to workhorse. Sure, most BDR riders use bigger bikes. They have bigger budgets, bigger butts, and carry ice, booze, cooking stoves etc.
I neither aspire to “kitchen sink” mode, nor absolute minimalist mode. One’s vehicle is a key factor, largely dictates which mode is ridden, style is exercised. I don’t think of riding a 250 as limiting, it’s a conscious desicion. (When a bike is referred to by a number it usually means engine size, specifically the displacement of the cylinder(s), the latter a number that often rides shotgun. Examples, M4xw3ll is a V4 1300, MINCX a parallel twin 700, and btwxd a single 250. Yes, somehow my bike names all have an X in them, curious…)
My three bikes all have characteristics of their own, serve different purposes. My lil’ BDR Bomber is a full 1000ccs (engine displacement is measured in cubic centimeters, amen for science) smaller than a common (practically ubiquitous) BDR bike the BMW 1250GS. (The GS is “Bavarian” for on-road/off-road.). Do I want one? Absolutely not!
But I digress, this rear shock from Öhlins make my little putt-putt capable to haul stuff, kitchen sink excluded. Rainy day project next week, and coupled with the new MOTOZ tires en route, I’ll have achieved GO-TIME status!!
Also visible in the upper left of the second photo are new springs and oil for MINCX’s front forks. It’s cheap enough to do now. Rear shock come fall after I make some dough, utilize the crappy stock shock some more. (I was considering upgrading it when I finally got it on the road but due to the Covid landscape was unable. Now I’m mechanically capable of doing so, HA!)
